For this week’s edition, in regard to you, our loyal readers, we will propose screening events as well as design festivals taking place in London, Paris and Geneva that promote and advocate to give exposure to low budget films and short films.

London Independent Film Festival offers a curated programme that focuses on narratives told through limited budget. It is happening at the Genesis Cinema in Spring 2025. Their programme is diverse, including more than 100 filmmakers from all around the world. This film festival is “a treasure trove of undiscovered cinematic gems, one of Europe’s top indie film fests” (Time Out Magazine).

The Biennale Internationale du Design de Saint-Etienne

The Biennale Internationale du Design de Saint-Etienne is a renowned festival that brings designers of the world together and is held from May 22nd to July 6th. It’s all about sustainability for this 13th edition commissioned by Laurence Salmon. Indeed, the theme of the year 2025 is “resources, predicting tomorrow” and calls on all designers to question their practice in the context of an uncertain future. Nine designers also co-curated their own sections of the festival according to their own themes: already here, promised lands, industrial becoming, minimum / maximum, in hybrid mode, the other living. We encourage everyone to try and keep up with all the work that will be showcased or even better, try to attend!

La Fête du Cinéma & Paris Independent Film Festival

For our fellow Parisians, “la Fête du Cinéma” happens from the 29th of June until the 2nd of July, as well as the Paris Independent Film Festival, highlighting emerging filmmakers on restricted budget, from the 27th of September until the 29th.

London Craft Week

Even if the London Craft Week 2025 has just come to an end, it is an event rich in creations that’s important to know about for future years. Located in the Oxo Tower Wharf on South Bank and taking place from the 12th to the 18th of May, it is an event dedicated to the celebration of British and International craftsmanship as well as creativity. From jewellery to ceramics as well as leather and textiles, the curation isn’t based on a business’ success but on the "underlying substance”.

London Craft Week

The Clerkenwell design week is internationally renowned and for good reason. One of the most important design hubs in the world, it’s an incredible opportunity to catch up on the latest inventions and creation while coming together to celebrate innovation. With more than 600 showroom events, 11 curated exhibitions as well as seminars, installations and more, it truly is one of the most important events of the year. Even if most of its participants are well established businesses we decided to mention it as it is just starting to take place! From the 20th of May until the 22nd, you are welcome to experience London as a hub of design and creation.

And finally, for our beloved Genevans, you can head to the best cinema in town, the Grütli, and enjoy a night of short films for the “Nuit du Court Métrage” on the 13th of  September 2025 (if you are not invited to my birthday). The programme is divided in four sections; Swiss premiers and shorts, European acclaimed short films, emerging stories with unconventional characters and finishes off with emerging young talents in short films animation.
