East Tank
Inspired by John Cage’s 1952 4’33 composition and Yves Klein’s Monotone - Silence Symphony of 1947, this project focuses on the creation of an intense, calm after the storm like atmosphere.
Similar to Thomas Demand’s “Büro / Office” photograph of 1995, the layout of the remodelled Tate Modern East Tank portrays an errie double sided ransacked office.
Using specific lighting techniques but also materials coupled with the sheer immensity of the space, a spatial narrative is laid out in front of the viewer.
But intentionally, most of the information is unknown to him, as he’s just arrived after what seems to have been an intense debate.
It thus seems to be true both in fashion and architecture, that less is indeed more.
